Families First-St Andrews (FFSA) is a small, independent charity based in St Andrews working alongside families in North East Fife with children aged 5-16 years who have additional support needs, referred to us by external statutory and voluntary agencies. FFSA core services are Family Support (adults), One-to-One Befriending (children) and Children's Group Work. We aim to:
Improve social skills
These interventions enable our service users to work towards improving their circumstances to become more effective contributors to their communities.
Our overall objectives are to strengthen the social and emotional development in children, young people and adults. We do this in a number of ways, by providing opportunities for our service users to explore the challenges they face and gain new opportunities in a safe environment with supportive staff and volunteers. In addition to one-to-one support and group work, we provide new experiences through family days. These days give families a chance to spend time and have fun together, thus creating lasting memories with each other. We work with service users to set attainable goals, which can be reviewed at any stage to either continue with the current service or make changes as needed.
